Bye Bye Ottoman

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I said goodbye to my ottoman today. I can call him mine because I made him. Now, it may be the first and last ottoman I make. However, looking at these photos now, I didn't totally finish it. Oh well. There wasn't enough room for him in my new rearranged living room, which is sad, but a friend of mine adopted the ottoman and he will live with them now. Yay! And she has a project to finish:)

Table Setting

Monday, July 25, 2011

Whew. I have been cooking all day for a supper we had tonight. We had my in laws over for my mother-in-laws birthday. It was a nice summer meal. I made my first ever jelly roll cake. Yay! But the point of this blog post  is to show you great table settings. My favorite thing, ok there might be two things, about having people over is setting the table. Enjoy these! ( My second favorite thing, if it is a birthday, is decorating the cake with flowers from my yard.) All done.

Here comes the...Bridesmaids!

Thursday, July 21, 2011

Doesn't this look great? The Governor's Daughter was commissioned to create necklaces for the attendants of the bride pictured above (who is an old camp friend.) The colors were taken from zinnias in the fall. Another old friend of mine, actually another old camp friend, too -- which makes it seem sweeter -- was the photographer. She sent these over and I love it! The bride looks beautiful and all the gals look great. Thank you Jemma Coleman Photography. Check her out here, www.jemmacolemanphotography.com

Better Homes and Gardens Sample Paint Swatches

The Cabbage Patch
I like to take pictures or objects or color schemes and turn that inspiration into a necklace. This was from Better Homes and Gardens and it reminded me of my grandmother, THE governor's daughter. She loved spray roses and she called her little garden, the cabbage patch. It was very wee but very sweet. This necklace can be pruchased at That's Mine Mongramming.

Mama with the birthday girl

We had an alligator themed birthday party for our 2 year old little girl. I used the Lilly Pulitzer Later Gator napkins and found matching cups, plates, and napkins. The colors for the party were pinks, greens and aquas. I made several paper chains for the entry way, mantle and mirror above my buffet. We had lunch and alligator shaped pools outside for the Florida heat. Our lunch was chicken salad, pbj and ham sandwiches along with chips and guacamole, carrots and homemade dip,and fruit kabobs, which were a huge hit. The cake was an alligator shaped cake made out of famous chocolate wafers. I covered a piece of wood in a green houndstooth fabric and placed the gator on top. I switched my painting above the mantle for a gator I whipped up the night before. The chandelier over the dining room table was decorated with satin and grosgrain ribbon and ric rac and lace. I also used those same ribbons on the sconces in the living room and on the pendants above the kitchen island. I am very happy with the way things turned out and we had a really good time. It was a very sweet birthday party for a very sweet little girl.
