Christmas is in the air

Peppermint

I call this necklace Peppermint. The inspiration was from this photo of this cake from Southern Living 2011, a peppermint cheesecake. I like the flattened peppermint around the edge. Very creative! Either way, it provided inspiration for this necklace. Enjoy! Peppermint can be purchased at Chrysalis.

It will be at Julie's home and studio, 1124 Morningside Court, Tallahassee. The sale will be Sunday, December 11th from noon to 6 p.m. I am so excited to be included and I know it will be wonderful. Here is a link to Julie's work. She makes beautiful things!

Baby Blanket

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

I made this baby blanket for a friend a few weeks ago. I thought the subtle use of color was nice and quite a change for me! This baby blanket is soft and sweet and seems just right for wrapping a baby boy up. You can see another one I made here.

Mossy Underfoot aka The Wakulla River

Mossy Underfoot

Wakulla River
Here is a necklace up on etsy. It can be viewed here. It reminds me of the Wakulla River. A few years ago, my husband and I and some friends canoed down the river and it was a lot of fun. Hot, but fun. We also went this past summer for my daughters birthday and we went on a river boat cruise. It was super fun and I was a little sad when it was over!

I love this fabric. I posted about it before here. I found the second image online a few weeks ago and have been saving it for a rainy day. Actually, I am waiting on a chair to be recovered so I have been oogling over the possibilities with fabric. My fabric on my wingback is different. I will show it when I finally gets here! You can also find the wallpaper version of this fabric at this great blog, adaanddarcy.blogspot.com. Click here to see it. Oh and one more! I recently saw the fabric on Sarah 101 as a headboard. See that one here.

Like China, Like Necklace

Majolica
I wanted to share a necklace that is on etsy right now. You can check it out by clicking here.  The name of the necklace is Majolica, which is a type of European pottery that is bright in color and glazed. I am getting to the point... The point is, it is very close in color to my china, Tobacco Leaf by Mottahedeh. Love that stuff! Pumpkin orange, ink blue, cranberry, moss green are all great colors for fall. Check it out!

Send me your Brooches

Vintage Necklace #26
Check out this necklace on my etsy site. I used a vintage brooch to add charm and whimsy. You can see this one and other necklaces by clicking here.  If you aren't the brooch type and have an old family heirloom brooch, this would be a great way to repurpose it. So send me your brooches! Happy Wednesday!

The Governor's Daughter on Style Me Pretty

Thursday, September 22, 2011
The Governor's Daughter is featured on Style Me Pretty today! The theme is Palm Beach Prep and I designed my three necklaces around the style and color selection. I thought they turned out so nicely and I am so thankful to be asked to help Jemma Coleman Photography out. She is an old camp friend and I have talked about her before on here. Check that out here. And go look at at our hard work, featured at http://www.stylemepretty.com/2011/09/22/palm-beach-inspiration-shoot-by-jemma-coleman-photography. Yay for pretty things!

Pseudo Wedding

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

I created the necklace above to go with a great wedding I found online. No, I don't know the bride or groom (no biggie!) but I thought the wedding photos were fantastic and the use of peach was so beautiful. I was inspired by this wedding to make a necklace for the bridesmaids to wear. This necklace can be purchased at my etsy site by clicking here.  And as a reminder, The Governor's Daughter makes bridal jewelry and you can review that information by clicking here. This necklace is one of the rare finds on my site! There is more than one Pseudo Wedding, so buy one for your maid of honor, matron of honor and bridesmaid. Check out this wedding at Style Me Pretty by clicking here. Thanks to Style Me Pretty, A. Dominick Events, Abby Jiu Photography and Beehive Events.

The Long and Skinny of It
I never tire of aqua, red and pink. There is something jazzy about it. I can't believe I just used the word jazzy but let's go with it. Aqua, pink and red have a lot of life to me and I like that. I have a few new necklaces on etsy. Go check it out by clicking here.

The Long and Skinny of It
The air outside right now is super! Fall is in the air and this necklace reminds me of the great colors of fall with a bit of a zest to it. This necklace can be purchased on my etsy site by clicking here.

Quilt

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

For my sisters birthday, I made her a quilt. It was super fun to make and I used fabrics I had on hand. The cool thing is that many of those fabrics had been used on other projects. With my sister recently moving and not living in our hometown, I thought she would appreciate the sentimentality of it. She loved it! Starting from the left (the first one is the olive green floral and its a bit cut off), the olive green floral was used on a quilt I have in my living room. The second from the left, the lily pad fabric, was used on curtains in our family beach house at St. Teresa, also where we had our little girls baptized. The fourth fabric, the pink polka dot, was used on the table at my little girls 2 year old party. The sixth fabric, an aqua with yellow flowers, was used on a bag I made for my sister last christmas. The seventh fabric, chocolate, red and aqua floral, was made into a dress that I wear and actually fits!

Mother Daughter Style

Monday, August 29, 2011

The Long and Skinny of it
I am a fan of the Southern Living blurb they do every month in their magazine about mother daughter style. I like to day dream about my necklaces being showcased in their column. I recently made a necklace for a daughter, and its shown here on my blog.  The mother liked it so much she wanted one for herself! Here is what I created for her. Like mother, like daughter.

An Oldie but a Goodie

Friday, August 26, 2011
On Pins and Needles

I found this picture on sold items on etsy. I wish I had kept it for myself! And I took this picture in my old yard and seeing the orange zinnia makes me appreciate the great yard we had where anything would grow! It is certainly not the case in our new yard. But its getting there. Anyways, just wanted to share an oldie but a goodie. And as always, you can purchase The Governor's Daughter necklaces at our etsy site by clicking here.

The Royal Treatment

Thursday, August 25, 2011

We are off to visit my sister for her birthday and visit with her family. My niece, who is 7 months older than my little girl and is 2, is into purple. And she is in a big girl bed now and I know she would love these beds. I had twin beds growing up and it was great to have one for me and one for my sister. My sister and I both had a set of twin beds in our own rooms but we spent many nights in each others rooms. Very sweet.

Show me a Good Time

Show me a Good Time
I love the look of this necklace. The black and white contrasted with the bright green, turquoise, coral and orange shebet is stunning. You can purchase it by clicking here. The black and white bead reminds me of this great DIY rug I saw on a blog the other day. I was amazed! Check out the rug here. Thanks to Carissa at The Fabulous Design File.

A Friend of Long and Skinny

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

The Long and Skinny of It
I made this necklace recently for a friend. She loved it! The red against the periwinkle is such a nice pop and the shapes of all the beads is interesting. So, sadly, this one is taken.

Bridal Party

Monday, August 22, 2011

I recently created necklaces for bridesmaids for a wedding. These gals didn't wear them in the wedding but the necklaces were gifts and were made with the wedding colors in mind. Coral, peach, blue and white porcelain, mossy green- they are great colors! Here are the bridesmaids after receiving their gifts at the bridesmaids luncheon. The reception was at the Old Capital in downtown Tallahassee. What a neat idea!

Loud and Punchy
I'll be honest. I made this necklace to sell but it looks like I might be holding on to it for awhile. The colors are so great! Loud and punchy.

Bye Bye Ottoman

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I said goodbye to my ottoman today. I can call him mine because I made him. Now, it may be the first and last ottoman I make. However, looking at these photos now, I didn't totally finish it. Oh well. There wasn't enough room for him in my new rearranged living room, which is sad, but a friend of mine adopted the ottoman and he will live with them now. Yay! And she has a project to finish:)
